At journey's end - (L-R): Christine O'Neill, Kathryn Reid, Sarah Dancer, Mrs S. Lanham

dip:.,,\

By Thursday the water was truly salty, but we had ample fresh water falling from the sky. On what nappened to be the coldest September day on record, it didn't stop raining once Oui' crossing of Lake Coolharaba in windy conditions was difficult 10 say the least. We were forced to stop a couple of times to rummage through our drums foi. warm clothing and raincoats. Fortunately, the canoes remained afloat. Later in the day, in the true spirit of camping, we took refuge for two hours at Boreen Point, 11ad a two hour breakfastAunch/dinner, and finished the day with an unsuccessful fishing expedition. Friday was CGIebi'ajion day; we found a patch of blue sky; caughi a fish, even if it was only IOCm long; made it 10 Hastings SII'eel and the sea. Spoiled with in OSquiio bites, sun- burnt and tired, but laughing and with a sense of achieve- merit, we were all content 10 finish a well spent week o11 tile Noosa River. HOOKED FOR LIFE! Well, I guess you could say we're hooked! During the first week of the Septembei' school holiday's the B. G. G. S. 1993 ski trip hit the slopes at Perishei. Siniggins for a week of enthusiasm, exertion, exhilaration and exhaustion. The group of thirty-five Grade I I and 12 girls, accompanied by four teachers, Miss Dare, Ms Bolton, Miss CUI'lis and Miss O'Suilivan, consisted of few experienced skiers and many beginnei's. Feeling luxuriously comfortable after our four hour plane and coach trip instead of the twenty-four houi' bus Tide down, the news at 6.30 Monday morning, that we'd had ten centimeires of snow overnight, came as a further bonus. The first ski lesson, for both experienced and inexperienced skiers, initiated a week that was to be filled with extraordi- nary hilarity. Once the deadly T-bars and lifts had been con- quered, we spent the days snow-ploughing, jumping and, of course, falling. Megan Scott, after an infamous jump that left her with a torn ear, dislocated shoulder and concussion, refused 10 let 111is stop her skiing. "Slack" of the week, how- ever, went 10 Emma Walkins and Sally Gibson, who whilsi falling off the Leichardt T-bar (an almost vertical slope) managed to collect four couples, including an instructor, also using the lift. Luckily no-one was hurl - too badly! Christine O'NGill
