The Interhouse Carnival held at the new ANZ Stadium, QEll Sports Centre, Nathan provided the athletes with much needed motivation and an insight into the upcoming season This year, Brisbane Girls' Grammar School once again entered the Schools Knockout Competition nominating a junior and senior age group. The senior division came second to KGlvin Grove State High on the strength of their field events and the junior age division won and continued onto the semi-finals at ANZ Stadium. Although neither team was suc- cessful in reaching the grand finals, it was a good competitive experience Nine of our athletes were selected in the Metropolitan East Regional team. They were Kane Domey, Zoe Arscott, Bridie Potter, Meredith Bochmann, Zoe Beer, Louise Rolley, Alexandra Derrick, Harriette Lawson and Rachelle Wu. This experience was invaluable for the athletes who looked forward confidently 10 the QGSSSA Track and Field competition The Track and Field began with the obligatory Heats on Monday afternoon on Ihe QEll training track. The team excelled and Brisbane Girls' Grammar School was placed in all events with the exception of one Track event owing 10 injury. This was the first hurdle crossed leaving the way for a concerted effort on Wednesday. The Annual QGSSSA Track and Field competition held at

ANZ Stadium on Wednesday, 20th October 1993 will be remembered as one of the finest years for Brisbane Girls' Grammar School Track and Field. Under the direction of the new Athletics coordinator, Mrs Susan Dickens, the team fin- ished the day convincingIy to place second 10 BSHS. Brisbane Girls' Grammar School gained sixteen first places, thirteen seconds, and fourteen thirds. As a climax to the day all Grammar relays were placed third or better. This was an extraordinary effort and was most influential in achieving our second placing. The most outstanding athlete was Meredith Bochmann, who won the 17 years and over loom (Div. B) 400m, loom hurdles and combined with Deena Aiken, Sharon Todhunter and Allie Derrick to win the Div. A4 x loom relay in the final event of the day. Louise Rolley (13 years Javeline), Rachelle Wu (13 years 800m), Brenda Carson (14 years Javelin), Zoe Beer (16 years loom hurdles), Bridie Potter (16 years loom (A), 200m), Deena Aiken (17 years loom (D)), Sharon Todhunter (17 years loom (C)), Allie Derrick (17 years loom (A), 200m), 15 years Division B4 x loom relay (Kate Bentley, Ienny Campbell, Amber Williams & Sophie Simmons), and the 17 years Division B4 x loom relay (Angela Hirst, Jackie Bayliss, Kathryn SIoane, Anne SUIlivan) achieved first places Special congratulations are extended to the 17 years age group, who tied as Age Champions reinforcing their win in 1992. The other Grammar age groups were placed third for 13
