JAPANESE DANCING TheI'e has been a lot of intelestin the Japanese Dancino Group tliis year from girls within the school. especially tlie girls who stand outside L25 and Injinic us througli the windows. (The life of an artist is always subject to enw and ridicule!) but people front the "outside world" ITave also expressed an interest in having us pel'foiln for tliein Unfortunately. we've had to ILirii some of thenI down due to exams and awkward timing. including a I'equest front the Japanese Society to be 111e higlTliglit of the Mikoshi Parade at Warena. Thankful Iy. the Japanese Society didn't hold it against us. and we danced at their welcoming lunch foi' the wife of the newJapanese Consul General. As usual. we danced at the Grade Eight Night at Chandlei' as well as stunning audiences witli 0111' grace and o1'1ental irisci'utahility at tile Grade Eight Night here at school. We also thi'111ed the crowds at School Day and dumbfotinded the Matsusaka students by welcoming the In witlT Japanese dancing Aussie-style. that is ci'OSs-countiy in tlie park Despite. all of this genei'al excitement. tile seniors' final year was definitely capped by a pel'formance for Hans Smallgoods. We were wonderful Iy welcomed. fed on sumptuous foods. watched a firewoi'ks display and wei. e given samples of salami and ham. We actually did manage to squeeze some dancing into 11Tat busy scliedule. a rid then were driven back 10 scliool in a stretch limousine. TITat is definitely 111e life to lead!
11 was. nowever. a 11iglit tinged with sadness as it was the last time we saw Mrs Wakayama. one of OUT dancing teachei's. who is going back to Japan. She will be solely missed by all. because besides teaching Lis oui' first classical dance and another traditional dance. she proved her devotioii to the gi'oup by choi'eogi'aphiiig a classical Samurai dance rot' us. Thanks go to lier. as well as to Mrs Heisei'. oui' other teachei'. boili tile Mis CanTpbells. Mrs Till^Izawti and. of coui'se. to the wondei'fully graceful and I'efinecl girls in the Japanese Dancing Gi'oup. The seniors wisli you all tlie best o11uck! NIColrr Heisei & Sze-I'm' 001
