ITewest edition hi-Iecli House came into being this year Our it amesake was Mrs Janet O'Conitor. the first female pi'inclpal of our scliool Ironi 1875 to 1876 when it was part of Brisbai\e Graininar. Tilere were then approximately forty students 11nder her direction in a house sittiated in George Street. She surrendered lier POSitioiT to open her owl\ school with 111e assistance or her daughters So. Maroon Madness 11as arrived we began the yeai' with a Housc barbecue. This was a great success witli the whole House presei\t for' activities iiTcluding swimming. skits. games and eating

Our initiative was revealed wl\en we sponsored Year One of Trial a State School who are taught by Miss Jane Nicklin. an old airl of B. G. G. S. Jane had approached the S. R. C. about the lack of equipment for her class caused by fires and burglaries. By our fundraising we were able to donate money for the purchase of art materials. We were delighted to see some of these non-EnglislT speaking Year Ones on our Assembly when they came to tliank us it has not heel\ easy starting a ITew House but there is no doubt that O'Connor has a great future with the continued support of such willing House members. There have been many successes in every interhouse activity throughout the year with age champions in swimming and athletics and phenomenal House spirit. House seniors have aimed to instill a sense of House pride in all ritembers and are to
