Finally, thank you to all of the members of the tennis team for giving everything your best "shot" - it's playing the game that counts. Your enthusiasm and dedication made 1989 a
TENNIS The B.C.C.S. Tennis Team has been extremely successful throughout the 1989 season. Not only did we do well on the points tables, but we also had a very enjoyable season. Most team trials were completed by our first match at the beginning of term lll, thanks to the hard work of Miss Mavor. Miss Ives arrived on the scene the following week, and gave B.C.C.S. tennis a real lift. Although our first trainings with her were strangely quiet (we were given fitness work!l), we enjoyed training with Miss lves, and with the Fancutts. Thank you to the Fancutts for their efforts this Season. The Q.C.S.S.S.A. tennis competition went extremely well. The C team led the way, being undefeated every week, and won a well-deserved, long sought-after premiership. The 8's,9's, D's, B's and As were not far behind in their achievements - all managed to place fifth or better in their respective grades. Congratulations must go to everyone for their consistent efforts and dedication to tennis throughout the season. Many things were introduced during the term. Morning tea was reintroduced on Saturday mornings to sustain those parents who gave their support, and also to "sustain" the tennis players. Another innovation was the weekly newsletter, "Tennis Tales", which provided a comprehensive insight into the previous weekend's tennis. The B.C.C.S. Tennis Championships marked the end of the season, and the number of entries, which far surpassed that of previous years, ensured successful doubles and singles competitions. A special thank you to Miss lves, who organized everything so efficiently, and who poured so much enthusiasm into our tennis. Miss lves was like an extra team member, encouraging or comforting those who needed it, and sharing our losses and our wins with us. Without her we would not have done so well, nor enjoyed ourselves so much this season.
great season for all involved. All the best in years to come.
