R.S.P.C.A. The R.S.P.C.A. support group has now been in existence for three years and it continues to be a popular and successful group. More than 30 new members joined the group this year. This year, the group has had a policy of positive action, rather than dwelling on the very negative and distressing aspects of animal cruelty. We all realize that dreadful things occur; however, I felt by concentrating on the good and positive work done, we could make people more aware of what they can do too. With this in mind, the group held two "theme" stalls for Saint Patrick's Day and Mother's Day. These had our fundraising ventures off to a good start. School Day was very successful with a stall of items from the R.S.P.C.A. and donations raising nearly $300. A very kind letter was sent to us from the R.S.P.C.A. thanking us for our efforts and inviting us to come to the shelter at Fairfield. On this occasion we presented them with a cheque for $500. This amount was reached with further fundraising ventures. There was some media coverage which was good publicity for both the Queensland R.S.P.C.A. and for support groups such as ours. I would like to say an enormous thank you to all the members of the group for all their support throughout the year. You are a very special group of people. I also extend my sincerest thanks to Miss Tennant, who was our teacher in charge of the group and a constant wealth of information and support. I wish the group and its members continued success in the future.

BRISBANE CITY STUDENT COUNCIL The Brisbane City Student Council was established in late 1985 as a forum for students to voice their opinions and problems with out-of-school matters. The Council consists of representatives from more than fifty secondary schools in Brisbane. Under the expert guidance of Mrs Elaine R.oberts, and later in the year, Mrs Lyn Thule, the council has risen to become a strong and influential force within the community. Ceneral meetings are held once or twice a term with all participating schools entering in discussion of problems that have arisen. Regional meetings are also held, allowing for similar discussion on a smaller scale. This year the Council has made submissions to the Minister of Education and the Lord Mayor on several topics, such as the incorrect use of T.E. Scores by employers and a universal lD Card. Other points made involved Blue Light Discos, paper recycling in schools, bus fares and the Student Freeps. The Student Freeps, involving many schools throughout Brisbane in such activities as musical performances, public speaking, theatre sports and fund raising, was held on 6th August in the Botanical Cardens. Cirls' Crammar was active- ly involved this year, with the Theatre Dancers performing, and the SRC annual sweet stall. Many thanks must go to Miss O'Sullivan for her generous assistance in the organiza- tion of the stall.
