SENIOR ORCHESTRA There was yet another historic change to the Senior Orchestra rehearsal time as it went to not a Monday afternoon or lunch but to a Tuesday morning. This new schedule gave us even more time to concentrate on our challenging pieces. Early in the year we were privileged to be involved in a combined orchestra with Brisbane Crammar School. This addition of enthusiastic musicians made the group a rather large Orchestra. Our extensive size made the rehearsals exciting, slightly disorganized but indeed very beneficial for all involved. This expansive size also provided several problems in finding a performance venue for the School Day performance, yet, despite a catwalk which split the strings and in fact the Viola section, in half, the orchestra performed extremely well drawing on its size as a major asset. Yet not all of this could have been possible without the dedication and support of our undaunted conductor, Miss Myers, and our faithful leader, Sze-Wai Ooi. The orchestra has enjoyed an exciting and successful year and we hope all participants will continue its success in the years to come.

f uNroR oRcHESTRA lf you have ever been at school in winter at the unearthly hour of 7.30 a.m. Friday, you would probably have seen the Junior Orchestra congregating outside the Cehrmann Thea- tre with hands frozen onto instrument cases and mostly wondering what it was all for. Well, it's for music and the fun of playing together in a group and making noise. Thanks to Mrs Smith, our conductor, this noise is in tune, and as no-one has walked out on our performances as yet, I may venture to say that people enjoy listening to us play a variety of tunes from classical to popular. We performed on School Day, combined with Boys'Cram- mar Junior Orchestra which, needless to say, made the orchestra so large it wouldn't fit on the stage, as the girls alone make quite a considerable number. We have had a terrific year so far, thanks to all of the players and, of course, Mrs Smith and we look forward to the con- tinuation of this group in 1990.
