B.G.G.S. CHORATE The Chorale has had a very busy yet enjoyable year in .1 989. Our first term was dedicated to rehearsing for the Easter Concert in which we sang a selection of pieces, and the latter part of the year was dedicated to practising for the Academy of Music Eisteddfod, held in October. ln this we sang a collection of folk songs from both lreland and Hungary. This was a learning experience for all the choir. The second semester was also host to the Junior play, Alice in Wonderland. A lot of time was spent practising and auditioning for singing parts, both solo and choral, in the play. We would like to thank Miss Cook for all of the time and effort she put into the Chorale. We would also like to thank Mrs Hughes for her direction in third term while Miss Cook was overseas. ln all, the Chorale has had a very successful year.

CLARINET CHOIR Clarinet Choir is a small but potentially loud group, espec- ially when not playing clarinet. The choir rehearses one lunch time each week tackling works with both finesse and style. Under the expert guid- ance of Mrs Barbara Lockwood, the group has gainecl much experience in ensemble playing and musicianship. We enjoyed the opportunity to perform on School Day before an appreciative audience. Although this may have been a somewhat daunting experience for some of our newer members, the group played well. Thanks must go to Mrs Lockwood, the school's clarinet tutor, for her time and effort. Best wishes to next year's choir who will undoubtedly malntain the tradition of gurgles, squedks and beautiful music.
