1989 School Magazine
tI LLEY 1989 has seen wonderful wins and superb support from the Leaping Lilley Legends. They leapt into action from the start with the lnterhouse swimming. Although we did not win, the enthusiasm bubbling from the sea of green made it a great day. The Lilley House St Valentine's Sweet Stall was another job well done with the total sum raised, a very successful $82.7 6 The lnterhouse Drama was next on the list, but this didn't phase the legends who performed excellently. Kylee Douglas, along with the cast, spent many long hours struggling to give Snow White and her Seven Cambling Dwaryes a happy ending. Success was granted with an hysterical audience, but alas, no win. April was a very encouraging month for Lilley Legends who gained 2nd place in the Artistic Cymnastics and 5th place in the Rhythmic Cym. It was, however, the fantastic Lillian cross-country runners who stole the limelight, with an outstanding FIRST place overall. The grade nines did especially well, stealing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place from the other houses. Congratulations Melissa, Sally and Alice! On School Day, Lilley, with the help of the sweet-toothed public, easily managed to sell their 200 bags of fairy floss to raise an amazing $243. However, Sport and Selling aren't Lilley's only talents, as Lorena proved, gaining 2nd place in the Junior Merle Weaver Competition.
The lnterhouse Athletics was yet another exciting day for Lillian Legends. We achieved 5th place, but this was not an indication of the effort put in by both the competitors and the supporters. Anna Nipperess gained 3rd in the junior section, and Bronnie Pressland stole the limelight with 1st place in the senior section as well as being overall champion for the day. Congratulations Anna and Bronnie! The choir has not as yet sung their song, "The Land of the Dreaming"; however, with the organisation of Simone and Jo, they are sure to do well. Thanks must go to all legends for making 1989 such a Breat year. I hope all goes well for the 1990 Year Twelves and I hope they have as much fun as we did. Cood Luck!
