In general, senior French is an exciting and enjoyable ouri of our studies, ancl one which will benefit us greatly throughout our lives.

FRENChfi TRIP

Bonjour ! On June 10th, nine very excited French students and a -rn"*n", "pprehensiue Mrs Thornquist threatened the ;;i;; of a Thai Airlines f light wlth the weight of their "b;;;'"; and with their hyperactivity' They werg ff,i;il tJ nuu"tn" same eff eii on Bordeaux' the city of w"|"", *ni.n nltt"alhem for a three week "S6jours int"inationul, Linguistiques et Culturels"' This incredibly action-packed and educational visit was ,..o-ouni"d by enthusiastic, helpful (but somefimes nina"ling) hoit families, hostile shop assislants' incompre6ensible school classes and extremely triendly French students. Other social hazards included the public transport *i,"n't and the never-ending temptations of fashion' .'ritin" and all those vineyards, as well as adaptations to our etiquette and table-manners' But what else did we learn? Yollie Wiltshire: learnt that bottom bunks can be shaky' Maria Syrnons: discovered the absolute superio.rity of tf," f i"n.n patisserie over any Australian competitor' Kristin Stewart: lived by the law of "a chocolatine a day keeps tummY grumbles awaY"' Colinette Margerison: developed a digestive immunity to school canteen lunches' Sarah Martin: learnt to discourage over-friendly host brothers. Erica Frvberg: came to respond naturally to host brother ..rn*t^at-3i ;vit""z"n,'6te" wilh "oua oua" (French for "bow wow").

Anna Figgott: acquired a taste for home-grown snails' Meera SisnrDatharnhy: perfected her "argot"' Mrs Thormquist: learnt to cope with nervous breakdowns. After three weeks of " Allez, allez, vite, vite' vite"' the rr"ro,out"d Paris for two and a half days' Apart from in"llf ", in" ,hottuge of time and the packed lunches' *" ""ioy"a ourselv6s and saw all the main attractions' All too soon we were back on the.plane on our way home. We're now thoroughly educated in French ;iir;" und oth"r- things besides' and have hundreds of photos lest we ever forget the best - and worst - tlmes we had in France.
