ffiQUffiSTffi HAN 19BB was bigger and better than ever for those in the Equestrian teams. We started off early in the year with a gymkhana in Caboolture in which four riders competed. AII girls enjoyed themselves and gained a lot of experience even though no overall placings were won. Because of the rain, many events were postponed or cancelled, but this gave the riders extra valuable time for practice. The next event for the team was a show organised by St Paul's, with events ranging from rider classes to cross country. We had six competitors who were all very su ccessfu l. The team greatly appreciated having the use of the Fig Tree Pocket Pony Club grounds for our training and selection day. Two old girls of the school, Samantha Booth and Vanessa Brown, coached and selected the teams. We have had team members competing at Pine Lodge, in the lpswich Crammar Showjumping Championships, in One-Day Events, and in the John Paul College Dressage Championships held over two days at Kooralbyn. The equestrian team would never have been able to function throughout the year without the greatly appreciated help of Miss McAdam, the team manager, Mrs Harvey-Short, the school co-ordinator, Mrs Kitcher, our chef d'equipe, and all the parents. A successful equestrian team is not only due to the efforts of the riders and their horses but also to the parents who are the backbone of the team. B.G.C.S. is just beginning to be recognised in the equestrian world and I'm sure 1989 will be just as successful. Good luck to next year's team. Lee Kitcher Captain
