The music tour, although taking up "holiday" time, was worthwhile in nearly every respect. The large mixed group saw the world, improved performance technique (Yeppoon Town Flall was especially good in this matter) and arrived home through flood water, and after 14 hours in the buses; a tired but satisfied bunch. The most unfortunate part of the music tour was having to leave Anita in Brisbane. She, fainting left right and centre, then standing up to say "I'm fine, let me on the bus". We had a lovely day on Keppel Island and then F{elen tsarry, Wendy Morris, Sharon Crollick and myself waved goodbye to the three buses as they set off for the fateful journey home and we set off for ten glorious days on Keppel. Concert Band has had an excellent year and feels like an integrated group. Concert Choir has grown yet again and has set its sights, apparently, on the "Cal State Choir" image. Californian State Choir visited us in third term and were magnificent - what a goal to set!

Music this year, as with everything else at B.G.G.S. has "taken off in 1983". In particular we'd like to give credit to the Year 8 Choir conducted by Miss Duggan and accompanied by Miss Turner, who easily won their section of the Pine Rivers Eisteddford earlier in the year. They are an enthusiastic and talented group of girls who are a pleasure to hear, and see perform. Other groups too, have done good work this year and all have grown musicaliy, and as people, through their commitment to the groups. As a music department, we went on a camp (June l0th - l4th) at Alexandra F{eadlands again this year. It was the best camp yet. Everyone had a great time with the mixture of playtime, rehearsal time, feedtime and sleeptime. The ever watchful parents kept close guard but didn't have severe disciplining to do. The camp concert on June 16th was a reflection of the camp - laughter mixing with the sweet music in a way that bought the B.G.S. and B.G.G.S. rnusic departments very close.
