Mr Justice Woolcock and Mrs Woolcock in memory\ 'lf their daughter Dorothy Harper Hyne (Betty), is awarded for the encouragement of an origina l production in the English language by means of an Essay, Story or Poem. KATHARINE JEAYS THE ESTER BEANLAND PRIZE FOR SEWING was given in 1915 by Miss Sophia Beanland, Headmistress 1882-1889, in memory of her mother for proficiency in Need lework. NO AWARD. THE WIGHT MEMORIAL MEDAL FOR MUSIC was donated in memory of Miss Wight, formerly a pupil of the School, and a teacher on the Staff, who was drowned in the wreck of the Quetta. This year marks the fiftieth presentation of the medal. JENNIFER BATTERSBY Proxirile Accessit CAREY McCULLOCH THE ACIE ALEXINA GILLIES MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR STRINGED INSTRUMENT was donated in 1970 by her sisters, Merna and Valda, past pupils of the School. SALLY CLARKE THE VALDA GILLIES PRIZE FOR PIANO is given for a performance of a set peice by Mozart. It is awarded for the first time in I981. MARGARET PESTOR/US WINNER OF THE SINGING COMPETITION ELIZA BETH MEIER WINNER OF THE WOODWIND COMPETITION MARGARET WRENCH THE BERYL BLANCH STEEDMAN MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR DRAMA was presented by Mrs P. H. Bailey in memory of her Aunt who was a Senior English Mistress at the School. This Prize is awarded to the girl who has done the niost ourstanding work in connection with Drama. ANDREA MILLIKEN THE MERLE WEAVER PRIZE FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING was donated in 1954 by Miss Weaver, a former member of the Staff. SHARON MICKAN . THE KENDALL BROADBENT MEMORIAL PRIZE, first given in 1941 by Mr J . E. Broadbent, a member of the Bo;ud of Trustees for many years, in memory of his father, is awarded to a pupil of Year II for the best Essay in a Natural History subject. NO AWARD THE D. E. CATT MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR SERVICE IN THE BOARDING SCHOOL was donated in 1970 by Mrs Catt's daughter, Mrs I. M. B. Cribb, in memory of her mother who had been a member of Staff in charge of the boarders. SUSAN WHITE THE TOPPER CUP FOR CITIZENSHIP. This cup was donated by Mrs E. V.
