Hirschfield House Report The year lor Hirschlield began 'brightly'with the adoption ol a ner'v house symbol:- an orange radiating sun and the motto "when you're hot, you're hotl". This was lollowed by a wave of patriotism that culminated in the printing of t-shirts and the fornration ol an active 'unilormed' cheer squad with many new war cries. The iirst house activity for the year was a Barbeque aimed at developing communication and co-operation between grades. r"hich is the primary airn ol the house system. The barbeque rvas a huge success and Hirschleld was under way lor 1981. The interhouse swimming was held on February 25th. Hirschleld presented an extremely competitive team with leading points right up to the last progressive score, when un- lortunitely we were linally overtaken and placed second overall. Other activities in which Hirschfeld competed were the Choral Competition, in which we were placed 5th, and an athletics carnival for a 4th place' The interhouse drama com- petition and the interhouse debating, of which Hirschleld has made the final. are to be held later in the year. Hirschf'eld has had a very successful lund raising year totall- ing in excess ol$200.00, so far the highest for any house. The mijor portion of funds will be donated to the Save the Children Fund sponsorship ol Mohammed Aslam of Karachi. Various activities were arranged to raise money, in- cluding an Easter Ralfle, cake, sweet, frozen drink and lairy lloss stalls. a coin drive and a house wakeathon. I 98 I has been an enjoyable and successful year for Hirschleld House. and house spirit has been greatly improved in this our teeond year ol' lormation. Kirsten MacAllister House Captain
