Griffith House Report Grade 8 Griffith started their first year at Grammar with some great lund-raising ideas. For the House Fund, there was a guessing competition to see how much string was in a bot- tle. The prize was a beautifully cralted leather bag donated by Mrs. Moreland, and this was greatly appreciated by the winnerl Other activities 8 Grilfith have participated in this year so far, have been two sweet stalls, one being in aid olthe Mental Olympics Fund. Earlier this year, our Grade 8's showed their skill in the Inter-house Softball competition which they proudly won. Lindy Allman 9 Griliith's lund-raising consisted basically of two things. The first was a cake stall lor the teachers, without them we would learn nothing, and in our case, be minus much fund- raising money! With contributions from the whole class. it went off well. The second fund-raising event was a delicious crumpet stall. Lots of hot crumpets with syrup for the B.G.G.S. girls with cold stomachs! This also went ofl well, (especially as we were allowed to eat the unsold crumpets at the end ol the event, free of chargel) Sue Warren In the beginning olthe year l0 Grillith held a Wake-a-Thon, at Sonia Cappiello's house. We all managed to stay awake one way or another, for 24 hours. We are now planning to have a cake drive for the teachers. At the Athletics Carnival at Church of E,ngland Grammar School we did well, with two firsts and a second place in the Ballgames, and Kathy Rutkin broke the school record for High Jump. Sally Stewart also broke the record for Grade l0 Discus by 2.5 metres. Well Done! Kathy Rutkin

So far this year, I I Griffith has been taking part enthusiastically in the House Activities. Early in the year, two cake days and a Cordial Stall were held as a fund-raising ven- ture. This money was put towards the Save the Children Fund. Further fund-raising is in the air! The House Bar-B-Q in April, and the Year I I & 12 "get-to-know-you" party at Lhe Pizza Hut was well attended. Upon the retirement ol Miss Boyd as House Mistress, we waved good-bye to Mrs Colwill who assumed the position ol House Mistress, and Miss Boyd then became our Form Mistress. The 11's contributed their delicate voices to the House Choir. On the sports scene we provided a wealth of athletic expertise, and cheering, to add to the House spirit. At present, the class is involved in a Year I I Round-Robin Vollyball competition. Kerrin Bryant l2 Grillith this year has undertaken various Fund-raising ac- tivities, including Frozen Drink Stalls, and a Cake drive. Other activities the girls have helped to organize were a House Bar-B-Q, a social evening at the Pizza Hut and the Choral competition, in which we came third. They have also readily participated in, and helped to organize, both our Athletics and Swimming Carnival. For School Day this year, Griffith House will be running a Colfee and Donut Stall. Our donuts are being made by Mr. Mersiades, who is the father of one of our Grade Ten students, Dyan. We really appreciate Mr. Mersiades' kind and generous assistance. Griiiith House has had a successful year, with the Third in the R. T. Jelleries Choral Competition, winning the Relay Cup, and coming second overall on Sports Day. Our HUGE new red and white Grillin flag is a real eye-catcher, and the object ol much admiration. However our success is only due to the support and participation ol House members and Staff. I arn very grateful for the help and encouragement ofthe girls, and am especially gratelul for the time and help of our House Mistresses, Miss Boyd and Mrs Colwill, and Assistant Master, Mr. Warden. Without their help, Crittlttr House would certainly not be the success that it is!
