G.P.S. ATH LETICS REPORT Serious training for the athletics season began in the last week of the August holidays, when the more enthusiastic girls ventured onto the boy's oval and were trained under the watchful eye of Mr. Emery. After the recommence- ment of school in third term, training continued every morning and lunchtime until the big day. Congratulations go to all members of the team for their performance on the day. Special mention must be made of Andrea Milliken, who won her three events, and Heather Robinson and Christine Nicol who broke records in the 'D' grade 100m. for their age group. Other highlights for grammar on the day were three successive wins in the relays by the sixteen years 'P' and 'A' and the seventeen years 'B' the latter two equalling the records. Overall B.G.G.S. came third going down by one point to Somerville House, the winners being State High for the ninth year in a row" Finally a big 'thank-you'goes to our coaches Mr. Emery, Miss Keely, Miss Williamson, Mr Bowen, Mr Staniforth and Malcolm Staniforth. Good luck
to the 1981 captains and team. Lisa Staniforth and Julie Kemp. 56
