COMBINED ORCHESTRA AND CONCERT CHOIR
Despite lack of rehearsals this year, Combined Orchestra has seen an amazing influx of talented musi_ cians, making participation in the orchestra a worthwhile experience. New members for Concert Choir have also contributed to an excellent vear of music. Both groups travelled to LG.G.S. towards the end of second term to show the development of both music departments in the past few years. A good time was haci by all, especially when we were treated to a gala afternoon tea, provided by the schoc,l. lhe cuimination of two years' hard work came when the Concert Choir won the shield for cham_ pion choir at the Brisbane Eisteddfod in October, despite very stiff competition f rom Coorparoo Musicmakers who had won this section for the last few years. Both groups performed at several concerts throughout the y"ear at B.G.S., the highlight being the annuai prom Concert in October. Everyone particularly enjoyed the guest group, Harvest. Thanks to Mr. Wakefield and Mr. May toi tfreii direction during this highly productive year. Desley Ashton and Kathryn Mainstone.
