1979 School Magazine

BALLGAMES REPORT The 1979 Ballgames team put in an incredible effort on the GPS Ballgames day at St. Hilda's this year. We came second, only nine points behind St. Hilda's. At one stage, we were winning by one point. But St. Hilda's managed to win the last two deciding games and so took out the 1979 Ballgames Cup for the fifth successive year. The grade eight's, coached by Miss Hatton and Tracey Tolcher, and the grade nine and ten teams, coached by Miss Harvey, did extremely well with two wins each. Although the grade eleven and twelve teams won none of their games, they achieved four second and four third places between them. This year, all winning times were records, because of the lengthened running distance due to the change over to the metric system.

Scoring was very close as the following scores indicate: St. Hilda's

140 131 120 119

1979 has been a very successful ballgames year and thanks must go to our coaches, Miss Harvey and Miss Hatton. Katrina Heer, (Ballgames Captain)
