G.P.S. Swimming On March 11, our hard trained team of swimmers f ronted at the Valley Pool, prepared for another exciting G.P.S. Swimming Carnival. Though space limited the numbers of Grammar supporters we could have, they certainly madi; up for it in voice and cheered our'team on to second place. Once again Mandy Leeson showed her swimming talent in winning the 15 years .100 metres freestyle in '1.0 minutes and the fifty metres A grade 15 years freestyle in the record breaking time of 29.0 seconds. Louise Paet- zho, ldt,'also did well to break Judy Hudson's old 50 metres Breastroke record in an exceptional time of 36.7. Our other record breaker was Lisa Haberman in the 15 years B grade f ifty metres f ree style. Other winners were Kay Bowen B Grade 16 years fifty metres freestyle, Jen- ny Morton in the 17 years and over B grade fifty metres freestyle and Louise Paetzholdt won the open division 100 metres breastroke. As in previous years, our f reestyle relays did extremely well winning four and coming within the first four places in most of the others. The 17 years A grade team of Carolyn Somerville, Jenny Morton, Linda Sanders, and Sue Gordon won in a record time of 2.04 minutes which bettered the previous record by a good two seconds. Both our Brockway relay teams, Junior-Louise Paet- zholdt, Vanessa Coates, Amanda Leeson, and Lisa Huberman, Open Team - Carolyn Somerville, Kay Bowen, Helen Price, and Sue Gordon ran close seconds to State High finishing the day in an exciting way. Once again we bowed to State High, but spirits were not dimm- ed as we partied on'wildly'at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paetzholdt to whom we extend our sincere thanks. As Captains we would like to thank our coach N/rs. Lathouras and congratulate the team on their fine ef- forts. Good luck for next year. Carolyn and Sue

SWIMMING REPORT 1978 The interform Swimming Competition introduced some girls to the water for the first time and gave others the feeling of competition which they were to meet again a few weeks later. The overall point winners were form 5C who also won the relay cup. Sue Gordon won the ln- dividual Points Cup. The success of the day was greaily due to the efficiency of the staff, trying out new poolside skills (not to mention Mr. Hashida's lengthy swim in the Boarders versus Day-Girls Relay).
