As you well know the Old Girls' Association is endeavouring to raise as much money as we can for the School Centenary Fund. Proceeds from the sale of used stamps will go to th'e fund so don't throw away those stamps, give them to the Committee please. Thisyear our meetings were opened to all members of the Association, unfortunately, we had no response from members. We look forward to welcoming visitors to these meetings n 1974. In conclusion, the Old Girls'Association wishes to thank Miss Shaw, Trustees, Mrs. Fashen, Members of the Staff, Miss Slater and Parents and Friends' Association for all their invaluable assistance and co- operation during the year, and extend to them the Compliments of the Season. The death occurred in Chermside Hospital, Brisbane in late October, of Miss Merle Weaver, M.A. (Hobart), who had, on tlree occasions, for periods of ycars, between l9l8 and 195 l, been a member of the B.G.G.S. staff, and, for a time a resident mistress. A lively teacher, and a popular form mistress, Miss Weaver taught Latin, English, and History. Interested in and sympathetic to other people, Miss Weaver was an active committee woman, geatly interested in women's causes, and associated with such bodies as the Women Graduates, the Y.W.C.A., and the Pan- Pacific Women's Conference. She was tfte donor of the school Public Speaking prize. By nature ebullient, jolly, and gregarious, and very much a personality, stre will be missed by former colleagues of the staff. ks --r
