JAPANESE

BRISBANE GIRLS GRAMMAR SCHOOL 2022 | 077

During my primary years of learning Japanese, the meaning behind the stroke of each character as well as Japan’s authentic culture and history immediately motivated me to pursue it as a further study. Over my years at BGGS, the unwavering support and encouragement from my teachers enabled me to fully broaden my knowledge about Japanese, while enjoying some bento boxes along the way! As I ventured into Senior Japanese, we explored more challenging topics, including the effects of COVID-19 on tourism, gender roles in Japanese society, and life after school. This year, I was privileged to extend my Japanese beyond the classroom by participating in the Tokyo English Channel where I was able to interact virtually with students around the world in Japanese. Overall, studying this language has opened my eyes to the beauty of the Japanese culture and sparked my interest to study it further in the future. Anavi Prashar (12M)
