GALENTINE'S DAY F ollowing tradition at our School, the celebration of Galentine’s Day was an absolute hit. An interrupted start to our year did not stop the joy of this annual festivity. We were all ready to celebrate a day of love with our Grammar sisters. Year 11 and 12 poured all their efforts into decorating for this occasion. Decked out tables were strung with pink and red paper streamers, and inspirational pictures were stuck to as many surfaces as possible. However, the true heart of the festivities showcased the love all the students have for each other. We saw plenty of younger students gathering at the senior tables, taking time to share their interests. Galentine’s Day is one of the most important events for the younger students as it serves as a rite of passage; it really supports our blooming blue spirit—even if it exists in shades of pink. GIVING DAY T his year, Brisbane Girls Grammar School held its second Giving Day. Giving Day is an opportunity for the BGGS community to support the School’s Bursary program, and generously donate funds to give the gift of a Girls Grammar education. The Bursary program provides the financial means for girls who would otherwise not be able to attend Grammar to do so, giving them access to the unique education and opportunities the School offers. This year’s Giving Day was an incredible success, raising more than $750 000 with the assistance of matching donors. Throughout the day, girls were able to show their support for the program, buying heart-shaped badges for their respective Houses and blue slushies at lunch. Giving Day is an integral part of the School community. The day provides families with an opportunity to express their gratitude and appreciation of the impact that Grammar has on their lives, while providing the means for another young girl to achieve her dreams.
