JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

F or more than 24 years BGGS has been involved in the Jump Rope for Heart (JRFH) Program, which provides a fun and physical activity to raise awareness and fundraise to fight heart diseases. Jump Rope for Heart was founded by the Heart Foundation in 1983 and since then more than 90 percent of all Australian schools and eight million school children have participated in this popular physical activity. The Program is designed to encourage a positive attitude towards exercise, healthy eating and heart health. Skipping is a great start to developing life-long healthy habits.

To recognise the importance of heart health and overall fitness, all Year 7 students practiced and developed their skipping skills while learning at home. Once back at school the Year 7 cohort had the opportunity to come together in Term 3 to showcase their routines. Due to social distancing the nine houses were spread out across three locations, however that did not stop the House spirit!

The ‘skip-off’ day was held on Wednesday 17 June and celebrated the skills learned and health knowledge gained. Jump Rope for Heart skipping ropes were awarded to girls from each House in recognition of their wonderful routines and enthusiasm during the ‘skip-off’. Ms Cathy Rees
