Zumbo! A new sport hasjoined Grammar's evengrowing athletic collection all the way from South America. Zumba, a Latin- inspired dance-fitness programme with the catchphrase "ditch the workout, join the party" has hooked many Grammar girls into the Friday weekly lunchtime sessions hosted by a professional Instructor. Combining a wide range of dance styles, from salsa to belly dancing, Zumba 15 definitely unique. There is an encouraging, fun and free attitude at these new Zumba classes, currently attended predominantly by senior girls, but hopes are high that this craze will soon catch on in the younger Year levels as well

The class has such a positive energy about it that it is almost impossible to feel embarrassed about the dance moves.
Year I I Physical Education students have been students of the fine art of golf in Term 11 this year, studying the sport by getting out on the green, but also looking at it from a SOCiological perspective. As a complement to this unit of study, all forty-one girls and a number of Health Studies staff were invited to attend the Ladies Masters Golf Tournament on the Gold Coast. Not only did they witness some of the best golfers in the world compete for the title, but students got to see much of the behind-the-scenes activity, meeting with the Tournament Director and many others. A highlight was a tour of the large Media and Broadcast Centre, where one Grammar girl participated in a mock interview where she compared her 'previous day's play' to that of last year's champion, Carrie Webb (all televised to a delighted audience throughout the Centre)

A lot of other sports require a certain degree of talent to qualify, but anyone can be part of Zumba. You can be absolutely terrible at it, but you're never letting anyone down! CHARLOTTE couLTON (11H)
