The Main Building may have been the heart of the school, but the front door was strictly forbidden to students! The back and side entrances were their portals. Patricia Marie Stephens (Smith 1949) recalls that Miss Lilley farewelled her VI Form class for the last time through the front door, so times were changing, and the building and its main entrance were opening to a growing school population and more flexible spaces and protocols.
