The lamp of enlightenment and the Queensland emblem.

Beneath the lamp is a scroll incorporating the year of the foundation of the school: 1875 and the emblem of the State of Queensland. This emblem symbolises the governmental support for a secondary school for girls, the separation the governance of Brisbane Girls Grammar School from Brisbane Grammar School in 1882, and the authorization to become an independent entity, focussed on its mission to educate young women.
