SENIOR ENGLISH I have learnt numerous valuable skills in English this year, from the power of words and images in advertising, and thinking about the way cinematography influences us, to manipulating language and developing a wider vocabulary. These skills go beyond the limits of the English classroom and will certainly benefit us in the future. BRONTE JACKSON (11H) English has given me skills to write more eloquently, think deeper and evaluate more critically. I enjoyed Year 12 English, particularly because we were given the freedom to choose the novel we wished to study, and passionately persuade an audience on an ethical topic of our choice. SIVAGOWRI SOMASUNDARAM (12M) I have thoroughly enjoyed English this year. In addition to mastering new sentence structures and apostrophes, I have learnt to write in a much more succinct and concise manner, reducing the number of words I use, and making each sentence more meaningful and purposeful. Prior to learning these skills, I always found editing my work and being selective a real challenge. I also love the oral tasks because I thoroughly enjoy presenting and public speaking. GABRIELLA ELGOOD (11O)

This year, English has taught me a deep appreciation of poetry. I did struggle with our task of analysing poetry of urban life, but I persevered and thoroughly enjoyed unearthing deeper meanings in my poem. LAURA BAULCH (11L) In English this year I broadened my vocabulary and also enjoyed unpacking advertisements and learning what techniques they use to position readers. KATIE MITCHELL (11H) English lessons are the highlight of our days as they are always engaging, enjoyable and effervescent. Here is an acrostic poem for your pleasure: English Never Gets Lacklustre, Instead Super Humorous! PHOEBE COTTON (12L), ASHLEY MCGREGOR (12L), TAIT MCGREGOR (12L)
