Woolcock NOTHING MELLOW ABOUT YELLOW! CELINE LAU AND SOPHIE MACROSSAN, HOUSE CAPTAINS
The year’s House events started with our House party, where all members of Woolcock, including our teachers, dressed up in their brightest yellow and participated in bonding activities and games that ensured Woolcock created a tight-knit bond that lasted throughout the year. Spirit in Woolcock was displayed at all interhouse events. Led by our Year 12 cohort, especially our House Sports Captains, Service Leaders, Media Co-ordinators and Spirit Leaders, Woolcock participation was at a high, and our yellow spirit was evident at all events. Although Woolcock didn’t manage to come away with a place in the top three this year, the athleticism shown at the Swimming Carnival, where we came out winners of the Lifesaving Relay, and at Interhouse Athletics, where Woolcock’s fastest runners came together to win the all age relay and two age championships, was unmatched. On Open Day, our Year 11s prepared an amazing milkshake stall, jam-packed with a range of flavours and toppings, to everyone’s delight. The efforts of the Year 11s enabled Woolcock to raise an amazing $1800 for our 2014 House charity — The Butterfly Foundation. In 2014, every Woolcockatoo embraced the yellow House spirit, and we are so proud to have led such an amazing group of girls in our last year! So it’s Sophie and Celine signing out for the last time. Our last words of wisdom? Raise your crest and be your BEST! ■
Woolcock Warriors ready to depart! 2014 has been a tumultuous and action-packed journey for Woolcock House with countless interhouse events and special yellow occasions. From the Woolcock party, Interhouse Cross Country, the Swimming Carnival, Interhouse Athletics and Interhouse Choir to Open Day, fundraisers and House breakfasts, our Woolcockians have, time and time again, risen to the occasion and embraced any challenge or opportunity with enthusiasm and grit, led by our Head of House, Mrs Ross. As per tradition, we welcomed our newest Woolcockatoos on the yellow brick road at our first House assembly. They are by far some of the most talented twelve and thirteen year olds we have seen, with so many achievements across the year. With their prefects Grace Cochrane and Cliodhna Simpson, the Year 8s have tackled volleyball and dodgeball with vigour, and we hope they have thoroughly enjoyed their first year at Girls Grammar, especially in the Woolcock nest.
