Hirschfeld HIRSCHFELD HUNTS OUT HOUSE PRIDE ALEXANDRA PERRY AND ISABEL HARDY, HOUSE CAPTAINS

Foundation. Our customary Open Day hot potato stall proved yet again to be a popular and worthwhile initiative. This, together with hot chocolate sold on Pyjama Day, raised more than $5600 for our charity. This could not have been achieved without the help and support from all Hirschfeld girls, especially our Year 11s, the staff and several generous parents. The focus of our weekly House assemblies has been to increase involvement and integration between grades. We are so proud of each and every girl who has embraced our initiatives, thus making this year truly memorable and rewarding for us. We would also like to give thanks to the wonderful Hirschfeld House group teachers for their dedicated time and considerate care. This year saw the retirement of our much-respected Mrs Stubbington (aka ‘Mother Stubbington’). It was a difficult and emotional goodbye, especially as we reflected upon the past twenty years. We greatly appreciate what has been her labour of love, and wish her the very best for ventures beyond the picket fence. Hirschfeld has now started a new chapter with Mrs Dabelstein at the helm, and we look forward with excitement to what the future holds. We will cherish our time as Hirschfeld House Captains this year and we will miss all girls and teachers so very much. We have no doubt that next year’s House Captains will continue to uphold the Hirschfeld spirit and tradition. ■

2014 has proven to be a fast-paced and historically significant year for Hirschfeld House. With continued endeavours of service, spirit and connectedness, new ideas were also embraced and celebrated. As Hirschfeld House Captains, we were very excited to start the year by ’Bringing Mexi back’ at our Mexican-themed House party. It was a fun afternoon filled with sombreros, moustaches, dancing and dodgeball. This magically orange celebration also gave us the opportunity to officially welcome our Year 8 cubs. This spirit and enthusiasm continued throughout the year at all interhouse events: Cross Country, Swimming, Athletics and Choir. These occasions allowed our capable athletes and musicians to showcase their skills. We are extremely proud of these talented girls as well as every Hirschfeld girl who just simply ‘gave it a go’. Service continued to be a significant mission this year with our continued support of the House charity, The Pyjama
