Griffith GRIFFITH GROWS BONDS MARGOT BLIGH AND ISABELLE HARRIS, HOUSE CAPTAINS
House activities throughout the rest of the year involved whole House breakfasts, sports days and inter-year events including a Year 11 and 12 picnic, and a Year 8 and 12 buddy breakfast. We also tried to incorporate fun activities into our weekly House assemblies, such as reports from girls who had great achievements, funny or inspiring videos and even a dodgeball game! Open Day was another magnificent event, with our lob-a- choc stall a great success. Our Year 8s also manned the stall for the two groups of incoming Griffith girls, currently in Years 6 and 7. Next year will certainly be a big change but they have worked hard to make sure all the new girls will feel comfortable and confident to begin their time at Girls Grammar. Overall Griffith has had a fantastic year. We have definitely made progress on our goals, with girls forming strong bonds within, and between, year levels, able to share in each other’s successes. It can be said with certainty that every Griffith girl is proud to be a part of the House. ■
Our goals at the start of the year were to achieve more integration between years, create a strong family feel within the House and to have a fun year together! Term I began with the House party, where girls enjoyed games, food and presented a war cry as part of our competition to find a new one written by current Griffith girls. The afternoon was a great success and gave everybody — especially the Year 8s — a chance to get to know each other and bond for the year ahead.
