THE GRAVEYARD Here it is quiet, yes, eDerything sleeps; In tbe glaueyard the silence oaer to.rnbstones ueeps. So much the earth holds, who knows what wealth Ol happiness"and sorrow, of illness and health? The graaestones dre scattered beneath the ilees, That iaugb in the sunshine and sigh uith the breeze; And the glass grous green in this quiet place, That is horne for those who haae run their race. Through wind and snow they haue remained. unstined, For the sounds of storms, tbey haue not beard. They sleep through this and neuer will bear These sounds ol tbe earth no matter how near. On each ol tbeir stones are signs of rnourning, If not in word.s, tbere are llowers adorning Tbese darksome slabs uith colocns so gay, But too soon tbey shriuel and die away. Tbe graueyard is guarded by niebt and by day, By the rnoofl's silaer glow and the sun's beaming ra1,; Tbroagh nature's rages and calmer days, The graueyard is there foreaer and always.

Star-spangled. ^. The.sbinrnering siluer rnoon, adorned in shadowy mists Rises higb, yet higber. The laded glories ol day are dead. Forest glens, deep shades of su.mmer, ^ Gently cascading orange-brown llaaes of autumn, Swirling icy winds ol wiiter ,, And the budding peach blosorns of spring. Aludys to return but neuer to stay. The dewy morning crowrued in the wakening sunlight, t he dreamy qutet ot' noon, Solt_lemons and hazy frosted lilacs, Fiery pinks and the deepest of blues. Euerything blackened out i; the'silence ol nieht. Time's ciock tolls the passing ol the hours. And- the -pitch ol night turns to grey. Dawn heralds the morning star with a'blaze ol bountilul colour, The sun's treasure chest of gold. glows fortb, And day in all its magnificent- spleidour'r_rrr!l,nl,:,", ,,,"".
