THE RECKONING

The boiling-waves batter the sea-shore, The howling-winds rise and fall, The surf beats endlessly onward - Unheard goes the stricken call. The craft on the reef is helpless, And is smashed in the turbulent sea While the ruthless gale, ever conquering, Rages on with renewed energy. Being now at the peak of its anger - Lashing forth with its 'cat of nine tails' Accompanied by loud peals of thunder, Sweeps on to claim more hapless sails.

The waves baring themselves on the sand. The green is the colour of grass, And the white ---,- purity? Blue and pink to violet. Shades of the east. Death . Cold and silent. East and West . Life and Death and Earth and Man. All this in the sky And on the sand.
