The Beanland Memorial Library User service charter

The Beanland Memorial Library is committed to excellence in resource provision and service. This charter sets out the expectations of library staff and of library users in the delivery and improvement of services. The principles underpinning this Charter are a client focus, content enrichment, differentiation, collaboration, and collegiality.

The library staff will provide: • professional, courteous, prompt and accurate assistance to all users; • fair and equitable access to School information resources;

• assistance with accessing and using library resources to meet learning needs; • knowledge management and research skills instruction and assistance; • a variety of spaces for individual and group study; • clear and relevant information and access through the library web pages and a comprehensive library catalogue; • resources that meet the demands of the School curriculum and the abilities of a range of users; • access to computer and printing facilities during library opening hours whenever possible; • continual improvement of resources and service through the regular seeking of client feedback; • a clean and attractive environment in which to work; and • the promotion of literature and reading. Library users can assist by: • treating library staff with courtesy and respect; • respecting the rights of other users, including returning resources (on time and in good condition) and keeping noise and disruption to a minimum; • observing the library codes of behaviour; • participating in library improvement programs, e.g. surveys and by suggesting new resources;

• eating and drinking outside the library; • maintaining a neat library environment; • abiding by copyright laws and the code of academic integrity; • actively seeking out and learning about library services and resources.
