The final phase of the week involved the SIuclents assuming roles: en\, ironmentalists, scientists, doc\I-journalists. miners, representatives of the fishing an <1 tourist indListries, world forum nTembers - and penguins. in these roles the expeditioners researched, planned, negotiated. solved problems and, IIOPe- fully, reached consensus The weeks concluded with presentations during which each group ITad to convince a panel that they shoulcl be fLinded to go 10 Antarctica. TITere followed an Antarctic feast CUIminating in the best of Antarctic desserts

THE A^ZOM^ YOUTH SUMMIT in ALigust, the school ITosted the InaLigLiral "Amazonian Youth Summit". Students were greeted by "UN. officials" as They began their journey of investigation into the problems associated with the Amazon. The students were given a brief to investigate the Amazon, consider the issues involved ancl then return to the school and raise the awareness of other stLidents A niajor component of this week was the giant scavenger hunt where girls were asked to use their skills to find or create products that reflected the diverse range of conflicting issues relevant to the Amazon. Perhaps the best way to gain an insight into the students' week is 10 LISe some of their creations
