MOTHER AND DAUGHTER DINNER
The annual Mother and Daughter Dinner held at the Hotel Chancellor Grand in June was a lovely evening for all involved. It was a wonderful chance for Brisbane Girls Grammar School mothers and daughters to share their experiences with future mothers and daughters, providing an insightful view into life at this School. This year’s entertainment was a thought-provoking debate on the merits of social media and its use for change in society — ‘actions speak louder than selfies’.
We were lucky to have debating captain, Isabel Nolan (12B), along with Head Girls Lucinda Duke (12H) and Elizabeth Prins (12B) on the negative team debating against past students Isobel Smith (2016), Bella Busby (2016) and Grayson Hale (2014) representing the affirmative team. It was an enjoyable night with laughs aplenty, but also a great opportunity for mothers and daughters to enjoy each others’ company. ISABELLA MATHIOU (12G) AND HELENA PAYNE (12H)
FATHER AND DAUGHTER DINNER
Each year the Father and Daughter Dinner has provided a great opportunity to show the Fathers of Grammar girls from all Year levels the wondrous journey of education and personal development we participate in within the Brisbane Girls Grammar School community in a relaxed social setting. This year’s guest speaker, Hamilton Wilson, father of past students, Vita Wilson (2011) and Eleanor Wilson (2016), delivered an insightful presentation about his career as an architect and the women who have been most important to him in his life. Being able to socialise and share stories of with both our fathers and friends is an annual highlight in the Girls Grammar calendar. ERICA PATANE (12O)
