YEAR 12 FORMAL Saturday 22 April was a magical night for the Year 12 cohort. The girls dressed to the nines for an ‘enchanted forest’ themed Senior Formal, which transformed the Royal International Convention Centre into a captivating forest scene. The room came together beautifully with forest images projected on the walls, gorgeous floral chandeliers, twinkling candle light along the table runners, mystical smoke running along the ground and vibrant flowers and trees throughout the space. The night was filled with endless photo opportunities, dancing and food. For the Formal Committee members, seeing our months’ worth of planning — establishing a theme, sourcing décor, organising table arrangements and designing invitations — come to fruition on the night was a clear highlight. As a group we entered the room early and were greeted with a spectacle even grander than what we had all envisioned. Watching the expressions of delight on the faces of every girl as they entered was so rewarding. Each year the formal raises funds for a charity of our choice. To keep with the forest theme, the chosen charity for this year was the Australian Koala Foundation, which raises money to prevent deforestation and the destruction of koala habitats. Very special thanks must go to Mrs Harvey-Short, Mrs Lowry and the Year 11 Charity Social Committee for their considerable contribution to the night. The 2017 Year 12 Formal was a complete success; an incredible and memorable night that we will all treasure forever. ISABELLA BARTHO-LAXTON (12L)
