DEAR PARENT
Dear Parents, We all know Valentine’s day is the typical day for romance, flowers and chocolate. Not for me, because I have some things I would like to say to you this year I’m sorry for all the times I screamed at you, just because I didn’t get what I wanted I’m sorry I lock myself in my room away and refuse to socialise with both of you I’m sorry that I turn away from both of you whenever you give me advice, or eye roll you when you try and help me out in tricky situations I’m sorry that I don’t express my gratitude as much as I should But whilst I regret many so many other things that may have disappointed you, I want to say thank you Thank you for being there when I need you the most Thank you for your never-ending support no matter what I do and even when I don’t always make the smartest decisions Thank you so much for the life you have given me and the privileges that I have. I also understand that I’ve never told you this before, and while it’s possible you may not see this piece, So, this Valentine’s, I’d just like to say, I love you

UNDO
undress my mind run your fingers through my hair my thoughts, and my feelings
unzip my spine look at the scars
from years I’ve spent clawing at the reputation trying to rip the wings of angels off of my skin
unravel my hands tightly knitted together this skin has been trained to keep itself compact
please understand I was never taught how to move forward I was taught to sit still look pretty please appreciate the way my spine curls forward like your mouth curls a smile always in the corner of my pupil
you feel like naivety and good intentions Let me adapt to a soul like that
