FIVE MINUTES TO NINE. [(VALENTINE’S DAY LOVE POETRY COMPETITION (VDLPC)]

I’d partly written 5 poems for the VDLPC.

The first was about the sky… that I then compared to a boy (A boy that definitely does not exist in real life). Too sappy, not good enough.

The second was about a blind person who could never see love, but could feel it. I liked that one. But I didn’t know how to finish it. Incomplete, not good enough.

The third was about a blackness, In that poem I described love as black void, one at which could never be filled. Too dark (Did you get the pun?), not good enough.

The fourth was about a woman’s rights advocate, It might be an interesting speech one day, but I also felt as though I couldn’t do her justice. This time, I wasn’t good enough.

The fifth was about appreciating your family’s love, It was the story of a professor who died from lung cancer. He was an inspiration to a lot of people. I attempting a rhyming poem but it didn’t convey the meaning I wanted it to, so I gave up. Once again, maybe a good speech but it still was not good enough.

It is currently 8:52pm and I’m writing this poem. I should probably be doing my maths homework (Sorry Maths Faculty!).

And now that I think about it… If I devoted this much of my time to finding a Valentine, I would probably have a bit more inspiration for a poem.

Well it is now 8:55pm and I don’t regret a thing.
