Griffith to school-wide Hide and Seek, these ‘Webs’ have weaved our House together stronger than ever. We chose to support Eat Up again this year, not only to support this incredible cause, but because it gave the House the opportunity to have a more hands on involvement with our charity. Eat Up delivers over 20 000 lunches directly to hungry school children so that they can learn to the best of their abilities. Griffith girls have made and wrapped thousands
This year has truly been inc-RED-ible and we could not be prouder to say that the Griffith sisterhood is still unmatched. As the 2024 Griffith seniors, we wanted to create a motto that would encompass our House Group’s values of love, kindness, and Griffith spirit! With this goal in mind, we developed our motto— Unite the pack, unleash the redback —and Griffith has certainly embodied it this year. We started the year off with a bang at our House Party. The theme ‘Rhyme without Reason’ saw the girls dressed in red costumes from ‘Target and Red Carpet’ to ‘Elmo and Mario’. We soon dived right into Interhouse Swimming, where the other houses weren't even RED-y for our sea of red pom-poms and unrivalled competitive spirit which was also showcased at the Interhouse Choir Competition. Led by House Choir Captains, Helen Mellick (12R) and Lisa Walsham (12R), the House performed an amazing rendition of Maroon 5’s, Maps . A huge thank you must also go to our House Sport Captains, Zara Davis (12R) and Sarah Greenwood (12R), who worked tirelessly, both behind the scenes and on the days, to ensure our Interhouse carnivals ran smoothly. This year at our Thursday House Assemblies, we also introduced inter year ‘Webs’, fondly named in line with this year’s hashtag #weavetheweb (a nostalgic nod to our hashtag from Year 7). We wanted our ‘Webs’ initiative to foster stronger connections across the House to promote an inclusive environment where everyone felt supported and encouraged by their peers. From Easter-egg hunts
of cheese sandwiches for Eat Up—a feat that could not have been achieved without our House Service Captains, Nishika Lakshmi Narayanan (12R) and Stephanie Tsai (12R). 2024 also saw a stunning Open Day, with Year 11 Griffith organising the fan-favourite Lob-A-Choc stall to raise even more funds for Eat Up. We are extremely proud to have provided lunches for thousands of children who otherwise would go to school hungry. Griffith House would not be the same without our incredible Head of House, House Group teachers, and of course, our mother-away-from-home, Year 12 House Group teacher, Mrs Betty-Anne Briggs. To each and every fellow Griffith spider—thank you for making this year unforgettable. As we leave Girls Grammar behind, we are sure that this RED-iculously amazing sisterhood will continue to unite the pack and unleash the redback . Ruby Coltzau (12R) and Kaiyu Su (12R) HOUSE CAPTAINS
