TECHNOLOGIES TECHNOLOGIES RETROSPECTIVE The exploration of technology begins within the classrooms situated on the fifth level of the CLC building. The well-facilitated floor provides endless opportunities for Junior Technology to explore and develop both skills and interests through drawing, modelling, laser cutting, 3D printing, graphics, programming of web and game solutions, individually and as a team. After the enriching journey of junior studies, the path to advanced studies in the field of Technologies diverges into two distinct routes: Digital Solutions and Design. Digital Solutions challenges students in all aspects. Though it is separated from Design, the elements of creativity and innovation are not lost—design of User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) elements of applications are just as crucial as the physical functionality of a product.

In contrast, the Design faculty delves into the creative potential that emerges through the use of pen and paper. Design provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in real-life commercial, human centered, and sustainable problems using innovative design styles that not only focus on aesthetics, but also functionality. Projects range from redesigning the interior of the CWA building for future Year 5 and 6 students, to investigating how our world is tackling the war on waste. By engaging with a myriad of design briefs and concepts, students are empowered to kindle the flames of their creative innovation. The wonderful adventure provided by the Technologies Faculty is beyond rewarding and establishes a study foundation for forthcoming academic pursuits beyond our Spring Hill campus. Both Digital Solutions and Design equips students with countless skills including critical thinking, real-life problem solving, coding knowledge and an increased awareness in data security, waiting for students to make an incredible impact using digital solutions and design. In addition to establishing a solid foundation in coding skills, Digital Solutions offers the opportunity to explore and apply principles of visual communication, usability, data safety, data efficiency, and their real-world impacts through engaging tasks that span across various fields such as art, music, and popular culture.
