YEAR 8 FRENCH INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

S alut! In French this year we have explored a wide range of topics. The Music and Leisure unit and the School Life unit are two that stand out. We were delighted to learn about some different music styles and sports that are popular in France and we had fun researching a French artist and making a poster. During the School Life unit we learned everything about school in France, which was fascinating. All the while, we were expanding our knowledge of the structure of the language and discovering how to speak about our own likes, dislikes and interests.

We have had lots of online and in-person opportunities to practice the language. Once a fortnight we met in small groups with Madame Denis, our French native speaker, to practice speaking, reading and listening to French. These sessions were incredibly helpful. Some great online resources were available to us that provided an easy and fun way to practice French at home. At the beginning of the year French seemed quite difficult, but with the constant support from our teachers, helpful resources and multiple opportunities to practice the language, it has become a very enjoyable and rewarding subject. Merci, au revoir! Tessa Lloyd (8O) and Elizabeth Roe (8G)
