THE LIBELLUM SOCIETY E ach year, the Libellum Society members participate in the Brisbane North Readers Cup Competition. In June, Year 7 and 8 Libellum members travelled to Nudgee College for the heavily anticipated competition, which requires each team member to read and answer questions on five books. Our Year 7 and 8 Readers Cup team studied each novel closely to retain as much information as possible about each book. Twenty-one schools participated in the competition and Girls Grammar placed third overall, only 3.5 points behind the winning school. Congratulations to Vicki Chuang (8E), Keira Crouch (7G), Levi Gao (7G), Dorothy Rae (7G), Vani Ranjan (7G) and Yuvika Singh (7H). In August, the Year 9 and 10 Readers Cup team competed against 12 schools and placed sixth. This was the first year of the Year 9 and 10 Competition and we look forward to participating in this event next year. Congratulations to Isla Fisher (9L), Stephanie Burgess (10E), Charlotte Picker (10M), Wijdan Rahim (10G) and Lata Warner (10R).

In celebration of this year’s Book Week, the Libellum Society hosted BOOKS2DEVOUR and students brought in book-themed cakes. Entries included titles such as The Importance of Being Earnest, Possum Magic, The Girl of Ink and Stars, The Hobbit, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory .
