CREATIONS

A SOLDIER’S STORY

They gave us uniforms of brown and green

Put us on rocky boats

To a horrible scene

They put guns in our hands

And hats on our heads

Mandala, Charlotte Zentveld (7B)

Set up our homes and our new beds

In the night as you fight off your sleep

You look to your side only to weep

As the man that slept on the bed next door

Now is gone and is no more.

The sound of marching ants lingers through your head

Only to see them all drop dead

As the weeks pass by you sing with a sigh

Knowing as you left with a lousy goodbye

Mandala, Elsie Jackson (7B)

We keep our fear in our pockets

And our hope in our bags

Photos in lockets

And clothes in rags

And as we march onwards into the blazing sun

We admit our fate that our lives are done

Caitlin Davies (8W)

Mandala, Grace Grant (7B)
