INTERNATIONAL YOUNG PHYSICISTS’ TOURNAMENT
CO-CURRICULUM
T his year, the International Young Physicists’ Tournament (IYPT) was held inWarsaw, Poland, with teams from 34 countries competing. Each team had five members who worked on three out of a total of 17 problems, performing experiments, analysing results and compiling the findings. In each round there were three teams, each of whom took turns reporting, opposing and reviewing. The reporter presented their investigation, the opposition critiqued and discussed the physics behind the phenomenon, and the review summarised key points presented by both teams. The Australian team performed well, winning two out of the five rounds. On this trip, I met people from all over the world who loved physics and it was wonderful to learn in an environment outside the classroom. Ashley Zhang (11O)
