DA VINCI DECATHLON The da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition comprising 10 events at which Leonardo Da Vinci himself was particularly gifted. These included Maths, English, Science and more obscure subjects such as Ideation and Cartography. In Term 2, three teams across Years 7 to 10 attended the State Competition at A.B. Patterson College for a jam-packed day of fun. The theme was 'The Unexpected', which focused on the elements of surprise, appearance vs reality and societal views. All teams performed admirably with the Year 10 team coming away with a win and securing a place in the National Competition at Knox Grammar School. In the June/July holidays the Year 10 team travelled to Sydney for the National Competition. The theme this year was 'Through the looking Glass', with activities linking back to mirrors, deception and illusions. The Year 10 team placed 2nd in the Science discipline, and 4th in the ‘Race Around Sydney’, where we answered questions based on sites we had seen, including the Royal Botanic Garden, the Rocks and the Sydney Opera House. Throughout the competition we met a lot of fellow competitors, and made some great friends from across Australia.
