GRIFFITH

WEAVE THEWEB In Griffith this year our motto was ‘Weave the web, black and red.’ The focus of this was to improve the unity within our house and create connections between girls that extended beyond their house groups. The network of connections woven in Griffith this year has strengthened our house and we are so proud of the effort each Griffith girl has put in to achieve this. Everyone has embodied this mantra, participating enthusiastically in interhouse events and committing to Griffith with incredible dedication. We kicked the year off, decked out in red, as we welcomed the Year 7s at our house party. The entire house sang, danced and ate cake all afternoon, setting the tone for what was to be a spirited and exciting year. The Griffith girls were out in force at the Interhouse Swimming Carnival, swimming their hearts out and cheering until their voices went hoarse. Each and every girl played her unique part, giving her all to contribute to the success of the House. At the end of the day, we came out on top, taking away first place because we had the strongest participation and spirit. The Griffith girls were able to further our spirit and dedication to our House by achieving top four in both the Interhouse Athletics and Cross Country carnivals. Open Day was another massive date in our 2016 calendar with our Year 7s enthusiastically welcoming the future members of Griffith house and our Year 11s doing a fantastic job running the Lob-A-Choc stall, with all the proceeds going towards the Griffith House Charity, Rogue & Rouge Foundation which aims to support young people around Australia to combat mental health problems. Term IV heralded the Interhouse Choral Competition with all of 12 Griffith helping our Choir Captains to deliver a brilliant rendition of ‘Wake me up’ by Aloe Blacc. With the assistance of our dedicated Griffith staff, our House Group teachers, especially Mr Wheatley, and our Head of House, Ms O’Sullivan, we kept the spirit alive and thriving throughout the year with regular dance-offs and exciting games in House Assemblies. It was fabulous to see everyone busting a move on a Tuesday morning. We have immensely enjoyed this opportunity to lead such a talented and enthusiastic group of girls and will forever be proud to be part of such an amazing house.
