YEAR 11 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS

Motion graphics, web design, HTML and CSS coding are all skills that any Year 11 ITS student is familiar with. Over the course of the year, our proficiency in these areas has been demonstrated though the Design, Develop, Evaluate cycle (DDE cycle). This process allowed us to systematically plan and document our work, and saw the creation of 30-second ‘explainer’ videos, which allowed all students to adapt almost any concept into an engaging clip. As part of this design and ideation process, the cohort was fortunate enough to receive tours around the West End based, post-production company, Cutting Edge. In the latter part of the year, we began our coding practice, starting with small, simple designs that have eventuated to form fully responsive, adaptable websites for clients outside the School community. This was a brilliant opportunity to test our client relationship skills, explore new, relevant trends within the World Wide Web and learn coding skills that are key to unlocking the future.

YEAR 12 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS

One of my favourite courses, senior ITS, challenges your creativity and problem solving in an ever-changing environment, while also giving you the opportunity to express yourself. This year we have focused on using a range of multimedia platforms to create innovative products in order to solve real world problems. We also had the opportunity to collaborate with a real client to design, develop and evaluate a mobile application. Being able to code an app from scratch and see it in use on another person’s device was one of the most rewarding and exciting parts of being a senior ITS student. This year has equipped me with a wealth of skills and has given me insights into the powerful applications of technology that I can use in virtually any future career.
