SPIRIT SPIDERS CAITLIN PHILP AND ELIZABETH COX HOUSE CAPTAINS

We set out with three main goals this year: to amplify Griffith spirit, to make everyone feel welcome and included, and to have fun at house events. Spirit was well and truly pumping when the Griffith spiderlings gathered in the second week of 2015 for the house party. Our new, spirited war cry was performed to start off the fun, with the Year 7 and 8s performing as loudly and enthusiastically as they could! A longstanding Griffith tradition is to have each grade perform skits at the house party. This was a great way for the new girls to learn what it feels like to be part of the Griffith web. Every Tuesday morning, the house unites at house assemblies and we keep up a fun atmosphere with videos, dancing and games.

challenges through a community approach. This year’s biggest fundraiser was the Lob-A-Choc stall at Open Day, which our Year 11s skilfully ran. Open Day was a chance to meet some future members of the Big Red House, and show them what they can look forward to at Girls Grammar. A benefit of raising the spirit in Griffith was our fantastic achievement at interhouse events — placing first at athletics and ranking in the top four for other competitions. More importantly than winning, Griffith sisters have come together for various breakfasts and celebrations across the year. We are extremely lucky to have Ms O’Sullivan running the house, and always caring and encouraging us to be the best we can. Our house group teachers are also incredibly important, keeping us on top of life at school. Overall, we were proud to lead Griffith in 2015.

The Griffith House Charity for 2015 was Rogue and Rouge, which aims to decrease mental health
