BEANLAND BEANS SARAH BEALL AND STEPHANIE MCALLISTER HOUSE CAPTAINS BEANLAND
excellent composure in the Interhouse Debating and the 7s continued our success in the Volleyball. By far the support from our girls outshone any trophy or medal. Each Bean cheered their leaves out for their peers which encouraged them to push harder in their respective competitions. Before each off-season the Beans needed to boost their growth, so a breakfast was held at the end of each term, varying from pastries to pancakes — every Bean’s favourite. The final term saw the older Bean sprouts being picked for tertiary growth, planting their roots elsewhere. Thus, passed another cycle of Beanland’s Bean harvest. Comprehensive analysis of the Bean’s roots revealed immense gratitude towards Ms Boyd, Mrs Byrne, Mrs McDonald, Ms Miles, Mr McGarry, Mr Larkin and Ms Coughlan for supporting the Beans’ roots throughout this year’s harvest. As the house waved goodbye to another generation, they had to farewell their most treasured mother nurture, Mrs Chakravorty, who, after twenty-four years of leading the Beans with her spirit, dedication and hard work, retired to seek new adventures. The Beanland Beans can’t thank her enough and wish her all the happiness and health for the future.
This year’s harvest was bigger, better and brighter than ever with the addition of twice as many Beanland Beans as last year! The new mutation of Beans — specifically Year 7 and 8s — settled in naturally, gifting us with their energetic spirit. This was celebrated at the Beanland House fiesta. Level 3 of the CLC was decked out in pink to match the vibrant colour of the Beans and decorated with piñatas. Suffice to say, this harvest year started out with a BANG. The Beans bonded together on the dance floor and each species’ competitive spirit was observed throughout the donut eating competition. The year only grew from there as we swam, sang, ran and jumped to the end of the school year. Interhouse Cross Country and Athletics proved our Beanlanders had the speed and pace on land and Swimming showed that we could glide swiftly through the water. Our Year 7 and 8s articulated their arguments with
‘Be in sync, link the pink.’
