Mathematics
Throughout the year, the Maths Faculty provided many young maths lovers with several enjoyable and fun opportunities, including Mathapatta and additional mathematical competitions and enrichment booklets. During our stay at Mathapatta, the students that attended were able to increase their knowledge and understanding of mathematical problems. Additionally, many students had the chance to further enhance their mathematical knowledge through difficult mathematical competitions, challenges and enrichment booklets. We have enjoyed the opportunities set by the Maths Faculty and will continue to participate in future challenges. ARCHLIA LIN (9R), MIA SARRI (9R) AND LUCY YUAN (9O) This year in Maths, we covered a range of topics including measurement, graphing, triangle and circle proofs, statistics and probability, surds and quadratics. I really enjoyed learning about these Maths topics. During the year, there were many extra opportunities offered to broaden my knowledge, such as the Maths Challenge for Young Australians, Mathapatta, Thiess bridge building and ∑ Maths. Year 10 Maths has provided me with a strong foundation of mathematical concepts that are needed for Grade 11 and 12. ELIZABETH CHAI (10E)
JUNIOR MATHEMATICS Mathematics has been a rollercoaster ride that resulted in many fun events such as Pi Day. I decided to enter the photography competition because it looked very intriguing and would show my creative side. Being one of the winners of the Pi Day competition, it was a great experience and I definitely advise everyone to have a go and take an innovative photo! My inspiration for the creation of this photo was to make it colourful, look intriguing and have many mathematic symbols. I created the Pi symbol out of colourful sticky notes with the Pi numbers and decimals in order spread across the sticky notes and in the background of my photo, I placed many mathematic supplies such as my calculator, textbook and most importantly my mathematics exercise book.
